Reading a report

One line says where the file stands

A report opens with a line such as 5 to fix · 2 minor. Under it, one line says exactly what was checked: the number of documents and pages, and the date of the rules.

It is never a verdict. Final-ink does not say or suggest how an application will be decided.

Findings, grouped by what to do

  • Fix before submitting: findings marked High or Medium.
  • Worth a look: findings marked Low.

Severity always shows a word and a shape as well as a colour: a triangle for High, a diamond for Medium, a ring for Low.

What a finding holds

  • What is wrong, in one sentence.
  • The evidence: the quote it came from, with the document and page. Open in document shows the page with the quote marked.
  • What to do about it.
  • Ask client: a question you can copy.

Rule or AI

A finding with a solid tag comes from a rule: code that checks the file against a cited, dated source. A finding with a dashed tag is an AI observation: something a careful reader would question. Check an AI observation against the document before you act on it.

When nothing is found

“Nothing found to fix” means a clean result on the checks that ran, for the documents that were added. It says nothing beyond them. What we check lists what no review covers.
