A permanent residence application, or a family applying for visas together, is one file with several people in it. Final-ink checks each of them against what the program asks of them.
Name everyone in the file
In People in the file, name each person and give their role: the principal applicant, a spouse or partner, a dependant, a sponsor, a host. A spouse, partner, or dependant who is not coming to Canada can be marked Not coming to Canada: some documents are asked only of those who are coming.
Say whose each document is
Where the program asks documents of each person, every file has a For choice beside its type when you check what the review found. It is filled in for you, from the file itself (a passport’s holder) or from its name, and then reads as plain text: select it to change it. Where nothing says whose it is, it is a box to choose in. The family is filled in from the application and the family information form, with who is coming to Canada. A scan that holds everyone’s passports can be marked For everyone.
The checklist beside your files is grouped by person, so you can see what is missing for whom before anything is sent.
The report
Each finding says whom it is about, and Show findings about narrows the list to one person. The Documents tab shows each person’s checklist and whose each file is.
The review also points out:
- a file marked for one person that is about another;
- a spouse or child on the application form whom you did not list;
- a family member the form and your list disagree about coming to Canada.
How it counts
A family’s file is one review, of up to 300 pages, like any other.
